Wynonna Judd taps big country stars for Judds tour

Following Naomi Judd’s death, her daughter Wynonna announced that she would still be on the Judd farewell tour. And she won’t sing solo.

On various dates on the 11-show tour, Faith Hill, Brandi Carlile, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Ashley McBryde and Trisha Yearwood will take the mic left empty when Naomi Judd took her own life on April 30 at age 76. The announcement of the tour was made Thursday via Twitter.

Other guests will be announced soon, on tweet said.

Wynonna vowed last week to “keep singing” in honor of her mother, saying on a special celebrating the country music legend’s life and career that she would do so because “it’s what she would like”.

“It may look a little different now, but we will continue to honor the Judds legacy!” Wynonna wrote on Twitter. “It’s amazing to me, all the artists who have come forward by volunteering their time and donations. I feel so grateful.

McBride will play some of the early dates of the tour, singing a full set of his own hits each night before Wynonna takes the stage, according to a press release. Hill will join the final show that was just added to Kentucky’s Rupp Arena, the Judds’ home stage.

The farewell tour kicks off September 30 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and ends October 29 in Kentucky (it’s not coming to California). A full program and tickets are available on the act’s website.
