Wharfedale Chamber Ensemble Family Concert to inspire children to play

THE Wharfedale Chamber Ensemble Family Concert will take place on Sunday July 10 at 4.30pm in the Methodist Church of Burley-in-Wharfedale.

The Wharfedale Chamber Ensemble, who have built a reputation for giving fun and interesting short family concerts in Burley over the past six years, perform their annual longer family concert conducted by Ben Crick of Skipton Camerata. Music from popular classics will be brought to life for music lovers and newcomers to classical music with explanations and listening points from the conductor. The program of popular classics includes movements from Serenade Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart, Fantasia On A Theme by Thomas Tallis by Vaughan William, St Paul’s Suite by Holst and Summer from the 4 Seasons by Vivaldi, with the solo played by Derek Revill, the conductor.

If you play a string instrument, you can join the orchestra to play Pachelbel’s Canon with parts for all levels (open, easy and advanced strings) provided. Children and adults will also have the opportunity to try out one of the instruments.

The concert will last approximately one hour with a short intermission. Contact Clare for copies of ‘Canon’ and tickets at certuition@gmail.com. For more details, see wharfedalechamberensemble.org.uk. Adults £6, Under 19s £4.
