Huge weekend of live music to celebrate Black Country taking place in Himley

A huge weekend of live music and entertainment, including Eurovision winners Bucks Fizz, is coming to The Black Country this summer. The event will take place in the grounds of Himley Hall to celebrate the Black Country Festival in July.

The Black Country Weekender will take place on Saturday July 16 and Sunday July 17. It will see tribute shows, DJs and comedians, plus a host of family entertainment.

Tickets are already on sale for the big event, with an early bird offer in place for those purchasing tickets soon. The weekend will take place just after the official Black Country Day on July 14.

Saturday will see The Garage House Orchestra present Ibiza Proms with a collection of dance anthems, classic hits and contemporary tunes from 3pm to 9pm – and guests including acclaimed local DJ Stuart Ojelay.

While Sunday will see the return of Black Country Musicom from 12pm to 8pm. Headliners include Eurovision winners Bucks Fizz, 80s pop duo Go West and Roland Gift of the Fine Young Cannibals.

Tribute acts to artists like Elvis Presley, Take That, Bon Jovi and George Michael will also take to the main stage – with more acts to be confirmed. And there will be the usual comedy tent, local bands, a funfair, real ale and street food, with plenty of games and activities for youngsters.

Kevin O’Keefe, Chief Executive of Dudley Council, said: “I am extremely pleased to announce this event, which will undoubtedly be the biggest and most ambitious we have ever staged for the Black Country Festival. will give everyone a chance after a difficult few years to come together and let loose in the beautiful surroundings of Himley, celebrating who we are and where we come from.

“There really is something for everyone at Black Country Weekender so I urge people to buy early bird tickets as I’m sure they will leave quickly.”

Early bird tickets for Ibiza Proms cost £25 for adults and £10 for children aged 5-17. While early bird tickets for Musicom cost £12 for adults and £6 for children.

Limited VIP tickets are available for both events for £75. Children under five enter free on both days.
