Students from Logan and Holmen High Schools will conduct a play at a concert on Saturday
LA CROSSE (WKBT) – We now know the winners of this year’s La Crosse Symphony Orchestra Aspiring Conductors Competition.
Five local high school programs participated.
Logan High School in La Crosse and Holmen High School together raised over $6,000.
This means that aspiring conductors from these two schools will conduct a piece at a concert on Saturday at the Viterbo Fine Arts Center.
“I want to be a bandleader in high school,” Holmen senior Van Maxwell said. “That’s the end goal. And so, I thought going into freshman year of college, having at least a bit of conducting experience under my belt would be a great idea.
Together, the five schools raised over $10,000.
Half of the money raised goes to school music departments. The remaining 50% goes to the orchestra.
